Cystoscopy - Advice Following Your Operation:

Drinking:

You are advised to drink more than usual for a few days.

Pain:

You may find that when you first pass urine you experience some discomfort. This should pass off after the first few voidings, especially if you are drinking the extra water.

Bleeding:

You may see blood in your urine, that should clear within a day or two. If it continues, despite drinking the extra water, please consult your doctor.

IF YOU BEGIN TO FEEL SHIVERY OR FEVERISH OR SHOW SIGNS OF HAVING A HIGH TEMPERATURE IT IS IMPORTANT TO CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR.

Work and Activity:

You may return to work and normal activities when you feel well enough to do so.

Important:

If you have had a general anaesthetic today we advise you not to drive a vehicle, operate machinery or household appliances, take alcoholic drinks or make important decisions for 24 hours. You will need a responsible adult to stay with you for 24 hours after your operation.

Should you need to consult your GP (Family Doctor) with a problem related to your operation within 3 weeks of surgery we would appreciate you contacting the Day Surgery Unit. This will enable us to monitor your progress. Please ask to speak to the liaison nurse (Tel: 01482 675066)
