Frenuloplasy - Advice following your operation.

Stitches: These will dissolve and do not need to be removed. (Some stitches can take up to 3 weeks to dissolve).

Wound: If there is a wound dressing it can be removed after 24 hours.

Bathing: You may take a bath or shower after 2-3 days.

Clothing: Wear comfortable, loose clothing on the day of your operation.

Pain: Paracetamol or something similar should give adequate relief, please follow the recommended dosage.

Spraying of Stream: If this happens when you pass water, try squeezing the opening from side to side when you pass urine.

Rest and Work: Rest at home for the first 24 hours after your operation.

You may need to take up to one week off work depending on the type of work you do. You will be given advice on the day of your operation.

If you have had a general anaesthetic today we advise you not to drive a vehicle, operate machinery, take alcoholic drinks or make important decisions for 24 hours.

Should you need to consult your GP (Family Doctor) with a problem related to your operation within 3 weeks of surgery we would appreciate you contacting the Day Surgery Unit. This will enable us to monitor your progress. Please ask to speak to the liaison nurse (Tel: 01482 675066)

Should you need any further help or advice please telephone the Day Surgery Unit, 8.00am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday (Tel: 01482 675066) At other times, only in an emergency please contact Ward 60 at Hull Royal Infirmary (Tel: 01482 674252)
